Question 1021053: Alexa works for a property company
The company has 9 cars
Alexa needs to work out the total CO2 emissions for the company cars.
She has to give the figure to 1 decimal place.
The emissions for each car are 150 g/km.
The company cars have a mean mileage of 12000 miles per year.
Alexa knows that 12000 miles = 19200 km.
Alexa knows that 1000 kg = 1 tonne.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
each car has traveled an average of 19200 kilometers.

there are 9 cars.

total kilometers is equal to 9 * 19200 = 172800 kilometers.

each car emits 150 grams of co2 emissions per kilometer.

total grams of co2 emissions is therefore 150 * 172800 = 25,920,000 grams of co2 emissions.

there are 1000 grams per kilogram.

25,920,000 grams / 1000 = 25,920 kilograms.

there are 1000 kilograms per tonne.

25,920 kilograms / 1000 = 25.920 tonnes.

round to 1 decimal place and you get 25.9 tonnes of co2 emissions.
