Question 1020948: Often sales of a new product grow rapidly at first and then level off with time. This is the case with sales represented by the function S(t)=600-200t^-2, where t represents time in years. Find the rate of change of sales for the following number of years.
1. 2 years
2. 7 years
I thought I just replace t in the equation with the respective years but apparently that’s wrong?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Hi there,
S(t) = 600 - 200t^-2
2 years
S(t) = 600 - 200 x 2^-2
S(t) = 550
7 years
S(t) = 600 - 200 t^-2
S(t) = 600 - 200 x 7^-2
S(t) = 595.9 (1 decimal place)
2^-2 = 1/4
7^-2 = 1/49
Hope this helps :-)
