Use eq. 1 to get an expression for y and substitute into eq. 2,
2x%2By=5
y=-2x%2B5
Substituting,
x-3%28-2x%2B5%29=7
x%2B6x-15=7
7x=22
x=22%2F7
Then use either equation to solve for y.
y=-2%2822%2F7%29%2B5
y=-44%2F7%2B35%2F7
y=-9%2F7
