Question 1020319: An ice cream cone has a diameter of 4.2 cm and a height of 11.5 cm. one spherical scoop of ice cream is put on the cone that has a diameter of 5.6 cm. if the ice cream were to melt in the cone, how much of it would overflow the cone? Round to the nearest tenth.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Hi there,
Volume of cone = 1/3 x Pi x radius^2 x height
Volume of cone = 1/3 x Pi x 2.1^2 x 11.5
Volume = 53.11 cm^3
Volume of Sphere = 4/3 x Pi x r^3
Volume of Sphere = 4/3 x Pi x 2.8^3
Volume = 91.95 cm^3
91.95 - 53.11 = 38.84
38.8 cm^3 would overflow.
Hope this helps :-)
