Question 1019970: I need help solving this:
A die is rolled three times. What is P(no 5s)?
I assumed this meant what is the probability that the die will not land on 5 all three times. Here is my attempt to do the problem: 5P3=60 (5 and 3 are subscripts)I put 5 because there are 5 other sides. 6P3=120 (6 and 3 are subscripts) I put 6 because that is the total number of sides. 60/120= 1/2 The answer I got was 1/2 probability however I think that is incorrect. I am solving this problem the only way I know. Please help me solve this step by step.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The probability of rolling a 5 is 1/6, therefore the probability of rolling no five is 1 - (1/6) = 5/6
:
The probability of rolling no 5's in three rolls is 5/6 * 5/6 * 5/6 = 125/216 = 0.578 approximately 58%
