You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Hi there,
Make hot dogs = 'x'
and popcorn = 'y'
x + y = 18......(1)
3x + 2y = 47....(2)
Multiply (1) by 3
3x + 3y = 54......(1)
3x + 2y = 47......(2)
Subtract (2) from (1)
......y = 7
Substitute y = 7 into (1)
x + y = 18......(1)
x + 7 = 18
x = 18 - 7
x = 11
11 hot dogs and 7 bags of popcorn were bought.
Hope this helps :-)
