You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Hi there,
The mean score of a class of 30 students was 76.
Therefore total score was 30 x 76 = 2280.
The 16 male students in the class had a mean score of 72.
Therefore total score was 16 x 72 = 1152.
The mean score of the 14 female students was:-
(2280 - 1152)/14 = 1128/14 = 80.57
Proof: Male's mean + Female's mean =
72 + 80.57 = 152.57
142.5/2 = 76.3
Hope this helps :-)

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
[ mean score ] = [ total of scores ] / [ number of students ]
Let +t+ = total of scores for all 30 students
+76+=+t%2F30+
+76%2A30+=+t+
+t+=+2280+
--------------
Let +t+ = total score for the 16 male students
+72+=+t%2F16+
+72%2A16+=+t+
+t+=+1152+
--------------
The total number of female students must be:
+2280+-+1152+=+1128+
Let +s+ = the mean score for the 14 female students
+s+=+1128+%2F+14+
+s+=+80.57+
the mean score for the 14 female students was 80.57
