You can put this solution on YOUR website!
you have 10 minutes and 2 miles to go.
Your top speed is 8mph, this is, 8 in 1. Let's convert to minutes, your top speed is 8 in x minutes (however many minutes there are in 1 hour, you figure it out).
That means you can do 8/2=4 miles in 1/2 hour (convert it to minutes). And if we half that again, you can do 4/2 = 2 miles in 15 minutes. You only have 10 minutes. You'll be 15-10= minutes late to class.
We just did this problem in our heads. Not bad, huh?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
+d+=+r%2At+
+d+=+2+ mi
+r+=+8+ mi/hr
----------------
+2+=+8t+
+t+=+1%2F4+
+t+=+3%2F12+ hrs
----------------
Convert 10 min to hrs:
+10%2F60+=+2%2F12+ hrs
-------------------
It takes me +3%2F12+-+2%2F12+=+1%2F12+ hrs
longer than I need to get to school
-------------------
Convert hours to minutes
+%281%2F12%29%2A60+=+5+
I will be 5 min late
