Question 1018064: A packing box of dimensions 4 in. by 9 in. by 2 in. A smaller box has dimensions 2 in. by 3 in. by 2 in. How many of these smaller boxes will fit inside the larger box? Explain your answer. Answer by FrankM(1040) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Line up the numbers.
4 x 9 x 2
2 x 3 x 2
You can see the dimensions are multiples of each other, 4 is 2 2's, 9 is 3 3's
So the small boxes fit 2 x 3 x 1 or 6 small boxes will fit in larger one.
Larger has 72 cu inches
Smaller has 12 cu inches, so we did it correctly. 72/12=6
