You can put this solution on YOUR website!
So in my math problem, I have a right triangle, with 12 on the left side, 8 on the right side, and x-5 on the bottom. How do you solve this?
-------
I'm going to assume that x-5 is the hypotenuse.
If so, (x-5)^2 = 12^2 + 8^2
---
(x-5)^2 = 144+64
---
(x-5)^2 = 208
----
x-5 = sqrt(208) = = sqrt(16*13) = 4sqrt(13)
-----
x = 4sqrt(13)+5
---------------------
