x + y = 2222
When the second number is
subtracted from the first​ number,
the difference is 44
x - y = 44
.........
x + y = 2222
x - y = 44
Add the two equations
2x = 2266
x = 1133
Substitute x = 1133
into x + y = 2222
1133 + y = 2222
y = 2222 - 1133
y = 1089
Two numbers are:
