Question 1017044: If 110 people took a promotional test 30% failed the test and the average mark of the test was 56% and I scored 2 marks above average is there anyway of working out how many people passed?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! You need more information, like the variability, the type of distribution, and the percentage at which a person failed.
The median is where half are above and half below. The average can be the median, but it can be far from it, too.
It is possible to construct a distribution where 33 got a 0%, 76 got a 79% and you got a 58. That would have an average of 56% and 77 passed.
There are many, many other such distributions.
