Question 1016984: If you subtract 0.3 from a certain number then add 0.4 (40 percent????) of the original number, then another 2.78, you値l get 25. What was the original number? Answer by JulietG(1812) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Do you mean adding the number straight or as a percentage? It's written as straight. In that case:
x - 0.3 + 0.4x +2.78 = 25
1.4x +2.48 = 25
1.4x = 22.52
x = 16.086
.
Can you please check to see that this is the correct wording of the problem? I'm suspecting that one or more of these should be percentages.
