You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(1/2)n - 9 = 1 + (-18n)
(1/2)n - 9 = 1 - 18n
multiply by two...clear the fraction...
n - 18 = 2 - 36n
Add 36n and add 18 to both sides...we get
37n = 20
and
n = 20/37

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1/2n-9 = -18n+1 Add 18n on left and add 9 on right
18 1/2n = 10 Multiply both sides times 2
37n = 20
n = 20/37
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1/2(20/37)-9 = -18(20/37)+1
(20/2*37)-9 = (18*20/37)+1
-323/37 = -323/37 Divide 323/37, and you find that 37 goes 8 times into 323(ignore the decimals for a moment). Now, 8*37 = 296 and 323-296 = 27. What do we do with this 27? Simple, since 37 is too big to go into 27, the 27 stays where it's at, like this:
Our answer:
-323/37 = -323/37
becomes:
-8 27/37 = -8 27/37
Good luck
