prem bought it for 500.

he sold it to sudhir for 500 + 500 * .10 = 500 * (1 + .10) = 500 * 1.10 = 550.

sudhir sold it to hari for 550 + 550 * .15 = 550 * (1 + .15) = 550 * 1.15 = 632.50.

hari bought it for 632.50.

500 * 1.10 * 1.15 = 500 * 1.265 = 632.50

500 is the price that prem payed.
500 * 1.10 = 550 is the price that sudhari paid.
500 * 1.10 * 1.15 = 632.50 is the price that hari paid.

1.265 is equal to 1.10 * 1.15.
1.265 minus 1 = .265
.265 = 26.5%
26.5% is the total gain achieved through the two transactions since prem bought it.
