(2/3)(2x–4)=(1/2)(x+3)–4 Found 2 solutions by edjones, praseenakos@yahoo.com:Answer by edjones(8007) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! (2/3)(2x – 4) = (1/2)(x + 3) – 4
Get rid of the fractions at you earliest convenience and your troubles are almost over.
4(2x-4)=3(x+3)-24 Multiply 6 times each side.
8x-16=3x+9-24 Multiply to eliminate parentheses.
8x-16=3x-15
5x=1 subtract 3x and add 16 to each side.
x=1/5 divide each side by 5
Check:
(2/3)(2/5 – 4) = (1/2)(1/5 + 3) – 4
4/15 - 8/3 = 1/10 + 3/2 - 4
8/30 - 80/30 = 3/30 + 45/30 - 120/30
72/30=72/30
That was a tough one!
