Look at it this way -

50miles%2F2.5hours is the sames as 20miles%2Fhour

20miles%2Fhour*8hours = 160 miles.
Last, note there's nothing magic about the interim step, no need to convert to Xmiles%2Fhour
50miles%2F2.5hours *8hours = 160 miles
Same result
