How do i find the answer to finding the value of xy in the problem -5x+y=-3 3x-8y=24
-----------------------------------------------------------

Solve the system

-5x +  y = -3,
 3x - 8y = 24.

Find the solutions x and y. Then calculate the product xy.

Is it clear?

How do i find the answer to finding the value of xy in the problem
-5x+y=-3
3x-8y=24
-------
Solve for x and y, then find xy.
------
Modify for elimination::
-40x + 8y = 8*-3
3x - 8y = 24
-----
Add to solve for "x"::
-37x = 0
x = 0
-----
Ans: No matter what value "y" has, xy = 0
