Question 1014223: How to solve kite with given a=2 and b=5. What is area of this kite?
I tried solving it with writing down all the equations for angles and triangles and then solving the system. However it looks like there's always one piece that is missing. Is it possible that this cannot be solved?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
if a is one of the diagonals and b is the other of the diagonals, then the area of the kite is equal to 1/2 * a * b = 1/2 * 2 * 5 = 5.

see the following reference:

http://www.mathsteacher.com.au/year8/ch12_area/06_kite/kite.htm

if a and b are not the diagonals of the kite, then other information may be required.

here's another reference that shows you alternate ways to find the area of a kite.

the kite in question is presumably a diamond kite, so just restrict your search to the diamond kite sections.
