Question 1013804: Solving Rational Inequalities; Suppose that a factory's cost (in dollars) for making x cars is c(x) = 8365x + 5940.
Then the average cost per car is C's(x) = 8365+ 5940/x
How many cars must the factory make each day to ensure the average cost per car is no more than $8475?
I am not sure I am solving this right. How do I solve and what steps am I missing
8365+5940=14,305
8475÷14,305=592.45

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

The average cost is NOT .

It is ; a very different expression indeed.

So you need to solve:

Multiply both sides by , Add to both sides, Add to both sides, Combine like terms in the LHS, Divide both sides by the resulting coefficient on remembering to reverse the sense of the inequality because this coefficient is negative. Done.

My calculator said it, I believe it, that settles it
