A rectangular field 48cm in length, 35cm in breadth and 40cm in height is filled 1\5 of its height.
---
Vol = 48*35*(40/5) = 13440 cc = 13.44 liters
-------------
Water from a tap flows into the tank at 1.8 litres a minute. How much water is in the tank after 6 minutes? Give your answer in litres.

.
1/5 height=40cm/5=8cm
.
Volume filled=48cm x 35cm x 8cm = 13440 cm^3
.
Liters in tank at start=(13440cm^3)(1liter/1000cm^3=13.44 liters
.
Water added in six minutes=(1.8 liter/min)(6 min)=10.8 liters
.
Total in tank after 6 min=Amount to start+amount added
Total in tank after 6 min=13.44L+10.8L
Total in yank after 6 min=24.24 liters
.
ANSWER: 24.24 liters

The "rectangular field" is not the most appropriate term in this situation.

Usually they use the term "rectangular tank" or "rectangular reservoir".
