You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A 30% salt solution is prepared by mixing a 20% salt solution and a 45% salt solution. How many litres of each must be used to produce 60 L of the 30% salt solution?
-------------
Let amt of 20% solution be "x" L ; amt of active ingredient = 0.20x L
----------------
Amt of 45% solution is "60-x" L ;amt active is 0.45(60-x)= 27-0.45x L
---------------------
Amt of 30% mixture is 60 L; amt active is 18 L
---------------------
EQUATION
0.20x + 27 - 0.45x = 18
-0.15x = -7
x = 46.67 L (amt of 20% solution)
60-x = 13.33 L (amt of 45% solution)
