Question 1012964: You want to buy a computer but have no money. You borrow $1000 from your dad but you lose it. So you borrow $500 from a friend. You buy a $300 dollar computer and use the remaining $200 to pay your dad back. You now owe a total of $1300 and own a $300 computer , a total of $1600. Please solve why there is An extra $100 both in words and as an expression. I told my buddy I solved it and tried to explain it but he doesn't believe that it is improper math.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! you borrowed a total of $1500, moving $200 from one lender to another makes no difference,you still owe $1500. The fact that you bought something (like a computer) makes no difference either.

This is a logic problem
:
Dad loan: 1000
Friends loan: 500
Paid back to Dad: $200
Now you owe a total of $1300
You have $1300 to spend, you spend $300, you have $1000 in your pocket

-1000 - 500 + 200 + 300 + 1000 = 0, balances the books
