If x=2 is a root, then (x - 2) is a factor.
We can divide x^2 + x + m by x - 2 synthetically and we get
x + 3 + (m+6)/(x+2)...
This last term is the remainder and must be zero, so m = -6.
The other factor is (x+3) and thus the other root is x = -3.
