y= k/x where y is the amount of coffee, k is the constant, and x the hours of sleep.

Let's first find our constant, we know that for 9 hours sleep he drank 2 gallon:
2= k/9 multiply both sides by 9:
k= 18 this is our constant.

y= 18/x
