Call their ages NOW, n and k. Then we have
n + k = 32, or n = 32 - k
In two years,
n + 2 = 3(k + 2)
Now substitute from above and get
32 - k + 2 = 3(k + 2)
34 - k = 3k + 6
Now subtract 6
28 - k = 3k
Now add k
28 = 4k
k = 7 and then
n = 32 - 7 = 25
They are now 25 and 7 years old.
