Question 1011887: {8x+3y=5
{4x-3y=7
Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Hi there,
I will solve this by elimination method
8x+3y=5....(1)
4x-3y=7....(2)
Add (1) and (2)
-3x + 3x = 0
12x = 12
x = 1
Substitute x = 1 into (1) or (2)
I have chosen (2) either would do.
4x - 3y = 7
4(1) - 3y = 7
4 - 3y = 7
Move 4 over to other side
remembering to change the sign.
-3y = 7 - 4
-3y = 3
Divide both sides by -3
-3y/-3 = 3/-3
y = -1
{1,-1}
Hope this helps :-)
