1. Start with the formula for the area of a rectangle:
A+=+L%2AW where L = the length and W = the width.
But, you are given the length as x so L = x.
And you are given the area as 3x%5E2%2B5x, so A+=+3x%5E2%2B5x, so now you can write:
3x%5E2%2B5x+=+x%2AW You can rewrite this as:
x%2AW+=+x%283x%2B5%29 Here, we factored an x.
So, to find W, divide both sides by x.
W+=+3x%2B5
