For equation with only one absolute value expression, isolate the absolute value, and solve for the two conditions. Refer to the definition of absolute value. Either abs%28x%2B3%29 is non-negative, or it is negative. Solve for each condition.

abs%28x%2B3%29 is x+3 OR abs%28x%2B3%29 is -x-3.
The sign of the input changes around x=-3.
