Question 1011062: hello, so i recently had a 90% in my algebra 2 class which is an a- at my school. i took the final and got a c on it which brought me down to an 87% which is a very low b+. i still have an essay to do which is worth 20 points and it is a test grade. i am wondering if i get the full points from the essay, will my 87 go up to at least an 89?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! 20 points is what percent of your total score?
if it is 20% of your total score, and the 87% represents 80% of your total score, then:
87% * .8 + 100% * .2 = 89.6%
it all depends on what the weighting factor is.
if it is only 10% of your total score, and the 87% represents 90% of your total score, then:
87% * .9 + 100% * .1 = 88.3%
it all depends on the weighting factor.
if the total points you could earn is 100 points, then 20 points is worth 20% of your total score.
it's a reasonable assumption, but you would need to check to make sure.
