Question 1010136: I have this word problem that says: Alice's Restaurant has a total of 258 seats. The number of the seats in the non-smoking section is 51 more than twice the number of seats in the smoking section. How many seats are in each section?

I have tried to solve it by doing this equation: x+y=258
2x+51=258
I am confused because it seems that my equation does not work.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x non-smoking seats
y smoking seats

system%28x%2By=258%2Cx=51%2B2y%29

Check the description carefully for how this becomes the second equation relating the nonsmoking and smoking seats.
