So this formula applies

x%5E0=1 where x%3C%3E0


So 5%5E0=1

all negative numbers to the zero exponent are -1.
all positive numbers to the zero exponent are 1.
0^0 is undefined.
Explanation: 1=x%5En%2Fx%5En=x%5E%28n-n%29=x%5E0
