Question 1007245: I really need help with this. Afraid I'm not that great in Algebra. A chemist needs 170 millimeters of a 47% solution but has only 29% and 80% solutions available. Find how many milliliters of each that should be mixed to get the desired solution.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x=ml of 29%
170-x=ml of 80%
the 170 ml is 47%
0.29x+0.80(170-x)=170(.47)
0.29x+136-0.80x=79.9
-0.51x=-56.1
x=110 ml
170-x=60 ml
110ml of 0.29=0.319
60 ml of 0.80=0.48
They add to 0.799 pure acid
