Question 1006975: Hello, I was wondering if you could help me with the following question:
+2%2F2x-1+-+1%2F2x%2B1+=5
I have tried to figure out the correct way to do this but I can't seem to figure it out (by the way the / means like over as if it were a fraction.)
Thank you in advance

Hello, I was wondering if you could help me with the following question:
+2%2F2x-1+-+1%2F2x%2B1+=5
----------------
It's not a question, it's an equation.
If you want to solve for x:
+2%2F2x-1+-+1%2F2x%2B1+=5
-1 +1 = 0
+2%2F2x+-+1%2F2x+=5
1%2F2x+=+5
10x = 1
x = 1/10
=====================
PS I doubt that's what you meant.
Add parentheses, they're free.

Hi there,
2/2x - 1 - 1/2x + 1 = 5
Multiply throughout by 2x
2 - 2x - 1 + 2x = 10x
Collect like terms:
10x = 1
x = 1/10
Proof:
2/2x - 1 - 1/2x + 1 = 5
2/2(1/10) - 1 - 1/2(1/10) + 1 = 5
2/1/5 - 1 - 1/1/5 + 1 = 5
10 - 1 - 5 + 1 = 5
Hope this helps :-)

Should this be: +2%2F%282x+-+1%29+-+1%2F%282x+%2B+1%29+=+5?
