Jon and Chris pool their money and find that they have a total of $275. If Jon originally had $55 more than Chris, how much did each boy originally have?
------
Equations:
J + C = 275
J = C + 55
-------
Substitute for "J" and solve for "C"::
C + 55 + C = 275
2C = 220
C = $110 (amt Chris has)
J = C + 55
J = 110 + 55
J = $165 (amt Jon has)
------------
