What is the probability that neither of us have a complaint about the car in the first year if the advertising claim is true?
What is the probability that exactly one of you has a complaint about the car in the first year if the advertising claim is true?

Assuming independence, where the choice of one has no effect on the other,
the probability that neither has a complaint is 0.97*0.97=0.9409.
The probability that one has a complaint is 0.97*0.03*2, since there are two ways one complaint can occur.
That is 0.0291*2=0.0582
Not asked for, but the probability that both have a complaint is 0.03*0.03=0.0009.
Those probabilities add up to 1.0
