Let  L  is the length of the way in one  (in each)  direction,  in kilometers.

Then you spent   L%2F1.5  for climbing up and   L%2F4.5   for the way down.

In total you spent  L%2F1.5 + L%2F4.5  for the entire trip,  and it is equal to 6 hours.
It gives you an equation

L%2F1.5 + L%2F4.5 = 6,     or

3L%2F4.5 + L%2F4.5 = 6,     or

4L = 6*4.5 = 27.

Hence,  L = 27%2F4 = 6.75 km.
