Question 1005993: Without graphing, answer the questions for the following linear system.
5x+2y=1
35x+14y=9
a) Is the system inconsistent, or are the equations dependent or neither?
b) Is the graph a pair of intersecting lines, a pair of parallel lines or one line?
c) Does the system have one solution, no solution, or an infinite number of solutions?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Put both eqns in slope-intercept form.
That means solve for y.
------
y = mx + b where m = slope and b = y-intercept.
====
If the slopes (m) are not equal, there's one intersection, one solution.
-----
If the slopes are equal, they're either parallel or coincident --> dependent, infinite # of solutions.
---------
If both the slope (m) and the y-int are equal, it's the same equation twice.
