Let the 1st part be "x"
Then 2nd part is "2x"
And 3rd part is "x+6"

EQUATION:
x + 2x + x+6 = 78
4x+6=78
x = 72/4= 18 (1st part)
2x = 36 (2nd part)
x+6 = 24 (3rd part)

Let x be the first part, then 2x is the second part and x+6 is the third part.
x + 2x + x+6 = 78
4x+6 = 78
4x = 72
x = 18
2x = 36
x+6 = 24
Check:
18+36+24 = 78
