Question 1004240: Two triangles are similar. The sides of the first triangle are 4,5, and 6. The largest side of the second triangle is 24. Find the perimeter of the second triangle?
Answer by fractalier(6550) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! When triangles are similar, the sides are all in proportion.
That means that if the smaller triangle's sides are 4, 5, and 6,
then the larger triangle's sides are in the same ratio.
Notice that the largest side of the bigger triangle is four times that of the smaller...
Thus the missing sides are four times as long...and are 16, 20 and 24.
The perimeter is then 60.
