the range of f is + or - 1, which is [-1, 1]

The above answer "[-1,1]" is wrong because that means the
closed interval from -1 to 1. The correct answer is 

{-1,1}

Put braces, { }, around it, not brackets, to indicate that 
the range contains only and exactly two elements.
