Question 1003477: Hello! Any help on this question would be greatly appreciate. Thanks so much!
A college student is interested in whether there is a difference between male and female students in the amount of time spent studying each week. The student gathers information from a random sample of male and female on campus. Amount of time spent studying is normally distributed. The data follow:
Males Females
27 25
25 29
19 18
10 23
16 20
22 15
14 19
a. What statistical test should be used to analyze these data?
b. Identify Ho and Ha for this study.
c. Conduct the appropriate analysis.
d. Should Ho be rejected? What should the researcher conclude?
e. If significant, compute the effect size and interpret.
f. if significant, draw a graph representing the data.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Ho: m=f with hours studied
Ha: m NE f
alpha=0.05
test statistic t df=12
critical value |t|>2.1788
t=(xbar1-xbar2)-(mu1-mu2)/sqrt {(s1^2/n1)+(s2^2/n2)}
You should get means of samples of 19 and 21.29
s1=6.11
s2=4.72
n1=n2=7
t value is-0.783
p=0.45
Ho is not rejected, and this means there is insufficient evidence here to reject the null hypothesis that the hours studied are different.
