Question 1003308: The second of three numbers is eight more than the first and third number is three less than three times the first number.
If the third number is 15 more than the second, find the three numbers.

I tried it by making the equation: x+x+8+3x-3=x-7
But it didn't work

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

First number = x
Second number = x+%2B+8
Third number = 3x+-+3
Our equation is: 3x+-+3+=+%28x+%2B+8%29+%2B+15
Solving for x we get
3x+-+3+=+x+%2B+23
3x+-+x+=+3+%2B+23
2x+=+26
x+=+13
So, the first number is 13.
The second number is 13%2B8=21.
The third number is 3%2A13-3=36.
