$10 = x
$20 = y
x + y = 35........(1)
10x + 20y = $530........(2)

Multiply Equation (1) by 10
10x + 10y = 350.......(1)
10x + 20y = 530.......(2)
Subtract Eq.(1) from Eq (2)
......10y = 180
........y = 18
Substitute y = 18 into Eq (1)
x + y = 35
x + 18 = 35
x = 35 - 18
x = 17
There are 17 x $10 bills
There are 18 x $20 bills
There is one more $20 bill
than the number of $10 bills.
