Question 1002563: Roberto is shopping for shoes and hats. He finds a store that sells 2 hat and 4 pairs of shoes for $249 or 4 hats and 2 pairs of shoes for $168. How much does one hat cost? How much does one pair of shoes cost? Which package would you buy? Why? Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source):
Let represent the cost of hats and represent the cost of pairs of shoes.
Solve the 2X2 system for and . Report .
As to which package would be a more attractive purchase, it would depend on exactly how many hats and pairs of shoes I needed. If I needed 6 of each, I would very likely buy one of each package. Tell your teacher you wouldn't buy either package because you like to go barefoot. Ask a dumb question...
