You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x=first number
x+1=second number
x+2=third number
(1) twice the second number=2(x+1)
(2) 17 more than the third=(x+2)+17 or x+19
and we are told that (1)=(2)
2(x+1)=x+19 get rid of parens
2x+2=x+19 subtract 2 and also x from both sides
2x+2-2-x=x-x+19-2 collect like terms
x=17---------------------first number
x+1=17+1=18--------------second number
x+2=17+2=19---------------third number

CK
twice the second is 17 more than the third
2*18=19+17
36=36

Hope this helps---ptaylor
