subtract four and then divide by three and get
3ln(x-1)=6
ln(x-1)=2
Now exponentiate
x-1 = e^2
and add one...
x = 1+e^2

first we want to get the natural log all by itself
subtract 4 from both sides
3ln(x-1)=6
now lets divide 3 by both sides
ln(x-1)=2
now we can take the anti-log of both sides
x-1=e^2
Now add one to both sides
x=e^2+1
