x + y = 5
Put in y = mx + c form
y = -x + 5
Where the line cuts the x axis
y = 0
......
y = -x + 5
0 = -x + 5
-x = -5
x = 5
(5,0)
......
Where the line cuts the y axis
x = 0
y = -x + 5
y = -(0) + 5
y = 5
(0,5)
........

set y=0 to find the x- intercept:
x%2By=5
x%2B0=5
x=5
the x- intercept is at:(5,0)

set x=0 to find the y- intercept:

y=5
