: I just took a quiz online and I knew everything, but for some reason this question stumped me. I looked in the chapter to find a problem like this and there were none. How do you solve this:
(4,-3) (3,b) m= -4/5 find b

the answer was something like -34/5
???????? Thanks a lot!!!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(4,-3) (3,b) m= -4/5 find b
-----------------
slope = change in y / change in x
slope = [b--3]/[3-4] = [b+3]/[-1]
Since m= -4/5 and since m is the slope
you get the following equation:

(b+3)/-1 = -4/5
b+3 = 4/5
b = -3 + 4/5
b = -15/5 + 4/5
b = -11/5
