Solve x: x%2F6+%2B+2%2F3+=+x%2F2+-+5%2F6
The common denominator is 6, multiply the equation by 6
6*x%2F6 + 6*2%2F3 = 6*x%2F2 - 6*5%2F6
cancel the denominators and you have
x + 2(2) = 3x - 5
x + 4 = 3x - 5
Combine like terms
4 + 5 = 3x - x
9 = 2x
divide both sides by 2
x = 4.5
